IRENE (KUCKKAN) MUELLER

Kuckkahn Lineage

Irene Louise (Kuckkan) Mueller’s father was Henry John Kuckkan, born August 14, 1904 in Watertown and died July 3, 1983. His sister, Esther, and a brother, Herbert, were the last living members of their immediate family of twelve. They are Esther Ebert-Hoefs, Watertown, Sadie Ziebell-Ft. Atkinson, Wi., Lenora Reutler-Kasper, Beloit, Wi. Lillian Handy, Janesville, Wi., Johanna (Honey) King-Ward, Janesville,Wi. Meta Guetzlaff, Clara Kuckkahn, Edward, Carl, Henry, and Herbert, all from Watertown, Arthur died in infancy.

Irene’s grandparents were Carl F. Johanna “Boje” Kuckkahn who farmed on the east side of Watertown. Carl was born Mar. 3, 1858 and died Mar. 13, 1948. Johanna was born Aug. 28, 1865 and died June 25, 1936.

Irene’s great grandparents were David and Wilhelmina “Kuckkahn” from Germany. David was born Feb. 23, 1813 and died June 16, 1896 at the age of 83 years. Wilhelmina was born Feb. 4, 1818 and died Mar. 23, 1912 at the age of 94 yrs. They lived in Watertown for 40 yrs. they were pioneer settlers here, farming on the east side of Watertown on Oak Hill Rd.

They had 2 sons, Carl F. and Herman Kuckkahn and 3 daughters, only one daughter is known. She is Mrs. Wm. “Emma” Ziegelmann, born Feb. 4, 1863, died Feb. 7, 1935 a week after an operation. She was well known in this community.
Herman was born in 1845 and died Dec. 2, 1916 from paralysis. Grandpa Carl F. died at 90 yrs. of old age, at his daughter’s home, Meta Guetzlaff, where he resided.

Grandma Johanna “Boje” Kuckkahn was the daughter of Martin and Wilhelmina Hartman. She died at their farm home on the east side of Watertown, at the age of 71 yrs.

“Pa”(Henry) Kuckkan died at the age of 78 on July 3, 1983. Herbert passed away at the age of 82 yrs. on Dec. 23, 1988 in Watertown.

“Esther Hoefs” died Feb. 2, 1993 at the home of her daughter, “Alice (Ebert) Fuchs. Esther was the last of the Kuckkahns.
