A CHRISTMAS CARD FROM SUPER TRAMP – 2006

Along with many other wonderful Christmas cards, we received a card from Super Tramp. You ask, “who is Super Tramp?” Well, he is Mike Nehl’s dog, and on the card he is very colorfully dressed up. There is a big “S” on his chest, so I think that is from the cartoon character Superman. Anyway, it is a very cute card. Thank you, Mike!

LUTHER PREP BASKETBALL TEAM – MATT MUELLER – 2007

“Luther Prep Blasts Lodi” is the headline in the sports section of the January 10th Watertown Daily Times, with the following: “Senior forward Matt Mueller 19 points to lead the Phoenix to a 79-61 win over Lodi Tuesday. Mueller was strong on the boards, basketball coach Nate Kieselhorst said. He had a lot of putbacks.”

A January 24th headline: “Luther Prep Remains Perfect in Capitol North”, with the following: “Senior forward Matt Mueller and Rothe had a big night on the boards, with Mueller grabbing 13 and Rothe pulling down 11. Those numbers nearly eclipsed Columbus as a team. Luther Prep outrebounded the Cardinals 44-26 for the game.”

A January 24th headline – “Luther Prep Students Serve Others During High School”. There is a picture of Matt, Matt Rothe, and children. Under the picture it says: “Luther Prep seniors Matt Rothe and Matt Mueller share with future hoopsters a recap of their lay-up clinic. Both of these seniors will go on to become future pastors, and hope to coach in their cities as well as serve in a church one day.” Part of the article says, “The varsity basketball team took its leadership talents to the HAWK where they spent all morning running a basketball clinic for first-through fourth graders of Watertown.” We are proud of you, Matt!

A February 2nd, headline – “Luther Prep Too Much For Belleville”, with the following: “Matt and Matt on the boards were huge, Kieselhorst said.” The Phoenix walked all over visiting Belleville with the score 68-42.

A February 10th, headline – “LPS Boys Top Poynette”, with the following: “Luther Prep defeated Poynette 60-53 in a Capitol Conference North Division boys basketball game Friday.”

And a February 28th headline in the Times says: “Luther Prep Upset By Clinton to End Season”. There is a great picture of our Matt in action with the following underneath it: “Luther Prep senior forward Matt Mueller (left) scored a game high 24 points for the Phoenix in a 69-66 loss to Clinton in a regional opener Tuesday at LPS.” It was a very exciting game. You were great, Matt! We will miss watching you play.

LUTHER PREP SCHOOL SONG

Cheer for Luther Prep School, faithful and bold,
Cheer for our colors, navy blue and gold.
Blue and Gold!
We are the Phoenix, soaring high and free,
We’ll fight with honor for the victory.
Luther Prep, Blue and Gold,
Luther Prep, Blue and Gold,
Fight – Phoenix – Fight!

FEBRUARY 5, 2007 – CELEBRATING JOSHUA’S 4TH BIRTHDAY

Josh’s birthday is on the 5th of February, but it was celebrated on January 27th. Again, there was delicious food with a special cake made by his Mommy, Jenny. Josh’s Daddy, Kevin, and little brother, Jonah, were there; also Uncle Matt, Grandma Sue, Grandpa Tim, Joanne and Jerry Brandt, and us. Josh opened some very nice gifts, and a good time was had by all.

FEBRUARY 27, 2007 – “VOICE OF THE PEOPLE” ARTICLE BY RICHARD WM. MUELLER

Dick wrote the following article to the Editor of the Watertown Daily Times: “Divide and conquer”. That is a military strategy — and a very efficient one. It is also an algorithm in computer science — and widely used to solve problems. It seems to me that that axiom is being utilized in our country. During the second World War, we were all Americans. We stood together. Now we are Native Americans, African Americans, and other Americans — not to mention the divisions in Congress. Will we be conquered? The Bible says in a number of places, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand”. God grant that we are listening. Richard Wm. Mueller

MARCH 11, 2007 – LUTHER PREP SCHOOL SACRED SPRING CONCERT

We attended the Spring Concert at Luther Prep in which both grandsons, Matt and Mitch, participated. They sang in the Quarta-Tertia Choir directed by Professor Randy Bode. They sang, “It Is Well With My Soul”, “Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord”, “O Sifuni Mungu”, and “Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing”. There was much more beautiful music. The whole concert was very enjoyable.

MARCH 24, 2007 – MATT AND HIS MOTORCYCLE VISIT US

We were surprised when Matt showed up at our door RIDING A RED KAWASAKI MOTORCYCLE!
He looked right at home on it because he had been riding his Dad’s motorcycle. We shouldn’t really be surprised because Dick had a motorcycle in Africa which he used to go to mission stations in the bush. A car could not go on bicycle paths to get to the villages. Of course, when our sons, Dick, and Matt’s father, Tim, and their sister, Debbie, got old enough, the motorcycle was a temptation, and they rode on it.

MARCH 27, 2007 – OUT TO DINNER AT APPLEBEES

What the occasion was I don’t rightly remember, but Steph was here from Cheyenne (probably to see their son, Mitch, at Luther Prep), so she, Mitch, Debbie, Steve, and we went out to dinner at Applebees for a delicious meal. We always have such a great time with our kids. One picture shows Debbie and Steph kissing their brother, Steve, on his derriere. They truly love him! What precious blessings they are! All of us have smiles on our faces.

APRIL 6, 2007 – TRE ORE SERVICE AT ST. JOHN’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH

Among the four preachers who participated in the “THIS I BELIEVE” service was our son, Pastor Timothy Mueller, who again delivered a very interesting and heart-warming sermon. The Sermon was based on: Luke 23:22-25 – “We Believe That Jesus Christ Suffered Under Pontius Pilate, Was Crucified, Died, And Was Buried.”

ALSO ON GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 6, 2007, ST. MARK’S TEEN TENEBRAE SERVICE

Among the teens who participated in the service was our Matt who had a very moving devotion based on Psalm 22 – “Jesus, the Forsaken And Crucified.”

APRIL 6, 2007, WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES

A full-page invitation to the Easter services showing beautiful Easter lilies with the words, “GLORY AND PRAISE” against a blue sky with white clouds and rays coming down from heaven. The words, “Rejoice!” and “Hallelujah!” are all around it. Underneath it are the words, “Death Has Lost Its Power! Jesus Christ Has Risen and So Shall We! Come Celebrate and Rejoice With Us.” St. John’s, St. Mark’s, St. Luke’s, and Trinity, the four Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran churches in Watertown extended the invitation. All the addresses and times of the Easter services are listed. What a blessed invitation!

APRIL 8, 2007 – EASTER SUNDAY AT ST. MARK’S AND DINNER AT THE BRANDTS

The Easter Sunday sermon was preached by Pastor James Werner, the Liturgist was Pastor Karl Walther, and the organist William Bersching. The sermon was based on Corinthians 15:1-8. The sermon theme was: “The Most Important News You Will Ever Hear”, and the parts were 1. It’s True 2. It’s Life Changing. Many Easter flowers were donated in memory of loved ones. We donated an Easter lily in memory of my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuckkan, Sr., my brother, Henry, Jr., and my sister, Beatrice Nehls. There was a delicious breakfast which the Boy Pioneers served.

Joanne and Jerry Brandt invited us to their home on 1320 North Second Street, Watertown, Wisconsin, for a great dinner. It is always a pleasure to go there and visit with them.
