Mueller Lineage

FAMILY OF RICHARD WM. MUELLER SR.
As Told To Dad By His Dad

GERMAN BACKGROUND

“We are Bavarians. My father, as I said, was born and reared along the Rhine. He often said that from his home in Sipperfeld, which is about 25 or 30 miles south of Mainz, still south of Cologne, he could see the Swiss Alps. Whether there are any of his relatives still living we do not know, because when my father died, my mother informed his relatives in Germany, but never received an answer. Perhaps his family on the Mueller side is died out. We don’t know.

My mother was born in Markbreit and also lived in Kitzingen, near Gemuenden, all of which is near Wuerzburg, which again is not too far away from Oberursel, where some of our Sem students did exchange work. Most of our relatives are still over there in the places I have mentioned. My grandmother who lived in the U.S. with my Uncle George up until the time of his marriage to our Aunt Katie, left America and returned to Germany and is buried in the cemetery at Marktbreit. This man may know some of those places. It would be interesting to know whether he does.

My mother’s family name is Mayer. She had brothers by the name of Michael and Bernhard in Germany. So there you have something about our family. That should keep you going, and that’s why I have been much interested in Germany.”

UNKNOWN

We know very little about our relatives on Richard Wm. Mueller, Sr.’s side of the family. We know that some of his brothers and sister had children, but we do not know who they are or where they are living. We know nothing of his mother’s relatives.

It seems that all of his brothers worked on the railroad, the Milwaukee Road. They worked in the railroad yards. One became an engineer on a freight train which ran between St. Paul, Minnesota and LaCrosse, Wisconsin. However, his brother, Leonard, did have a corner grocery store at the end of his working days.
