SEPTEMBER 24 AND 28, 2008 – OUR SON, TIM, PREACHES AT ST. MARK’S

Tim was invited by St. Mark’s to guest preach on the ROC. What a wonderful opportunity the Lord gave him to tell the people how the ROC is:

1. A place where Christ, the Rock of our salvation, is the foundation and cornerstone.
2. A place where God’s Word is taught every day.
3. A place that is a Christian, positive, safe, and fun place for teens to hang out with other teens for interactive Bible study, recreation, fellowship, worship, service opportunities, and outreach.
4. A place where young people can receive additional Scriptural guidance and support. The ROC is supported by our four Watertown churches which have called Pastor Mueller as the full-time ROC pastor and director.
5. A place to support with our time, talents, and treasures.
6. A place where God’s people can serve as volunteers.

The above is quoted from a flyer which was put out by Tim in celebration of theROC being open for five years.

OCTOBER 28, 2008 – MCDONALDS A TOTAL LOSS AFTER FIRE

The Watertown McDonalds restaurant, where Tim worked hard as a Manager to earn money to pay for his tuition at Northwestern, burned to the ground. The fire was determined as its cause “a malfunctioning piece of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment on the roof of the building”.

NOVEMBER 5, 2008, WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES – BARACK OBAMA ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNTITED STATES

Democrat Barack Obama defeated Republican Senator John McCain to become President of the United States. Dick and I voted for Senator McCain. According to Proverbs 3:5, we “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding”. The future is not ours to see.

JUNE 22, 2010 – CORRECTION – SUBJECT: RIVETING STUFF

Today I received an e-mail from our son, Steve, saying that on PAGE 163 – “APRIL 21, 2007 – A SURPRISE 40TH BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR STEVE” in MOM’S MEMOIRS, I wrote that “he thought he saw our red Chevrolet Cavalier parked outside”. The correction is: “he thought he saw our Ford Escort parked outside”

Steve knew “it was his old car’, because of the following:

– lug nut cap on the front passenger side wheel was missing.
– driver side door paint chipped at door edge due to a collision with another car upon opening years ago.
– driver side back taillight damage.
– rear hatchback window tint peeling off.
– emergency brake wire tied down to prevent it being pulled since it would stick many times otherwise.

In fact, I even stopped to look the car over to verify.  I wondered – why are THEY here?  And Melody wondered – why is their car parked THERE? (she had asked someone to make sure to move the car if you parked there, but that person obviously ‘dropped the ball’ I guess – DUH!)

Riveting stuff!

Love,
Steve”

Thank you, Steve, for the correction! I appreciate it very much. It thrills me because now I know that relatives and friends are actually reading MOM’S MEMOIRS. I have to admit that sometimes I do wonder if it is being read and if I should go on. Now I know, so I shall keep on writing about Dad’s and my lives with our beloved family, other relatives, and friends. God bless you all. Mom

P. S. Anyone who knows Steve knows that he loved that car! Doesn’t his intricate, detailed, list above prove it?

AND NOW – BACK TO THE PAST – (CONFUSIN’ BUT AMUSIN’, AS THEY SAY)

NOVEMBER 27, 2008 – CELEBRATING THANKSGIVING DAY AT DEBBIE AND GLEN ‘S

Dick and I were invited to Debbie and Glen’s lovely home in Colgate, Wisconsin, so that we could join them and their family in thanking God for all of His bountiful blessings. And bountiful they were! The women, and men, in our family are all such great cooks and bakers. Everything was delicious, and we had a great time visiting with everyone. We stayed overnight, and the next morning Glen made some of his scrumptious omelets for everyone.

NOVEMBER 28, 2008 – VENISON HANGING IN GARAGE

And why are slabs of venison hanging in Tim’s garage? Well, Tim and his sons had been hunting deer over Thanksgiving and “brought home the bacon” – nope! – not the bacon, but the venison from deer which they had shot. It sure does help fill the freezer! And it is delicious!

NOVEMBER 28, 2008 – WATERTOWN FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS PARADE

What an extraordinary parade! The St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church’s float far outshone all the others, even though they were very beautiful. There was a live white winged angel with a lighted star above it, a cross draped with a white cloth, and a Nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. There were lights on the float. Along the side of it was written “St. Luke’s Ev. Lutheran Church”. There were wagons with horses (even a miniature horse), and floats with decorated Christmas trees, snowmen, bands, a miniature train weaving in and out on the street, etc. Of course, there was a wagon with a live waving Santa Claus too.

DECEMBER 1, 2008 – MATT’S 20TH BIRTHDAY

My, what a handsome man Matt is! To think that he is 20 years old already! We are celebrating his 20th birthday at Sue and Tim’s home with another wonderful delicious dinner, served on the “family balloon tablecloth”. That cloth is eternal!

DECEMBER 13, 2008 – BRIAN WEILAND GRADUATES AND IS ACCEPTED FOR ADMISSION TO THE SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY IN MILWAUKEE

Our grandson, Brian Weiland, son of Sue and Jim Weiland, graduated from University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, with a Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Psychology. On February 24, 2009, we received a wonderful long letter from Brian saying that he received a phone call from the School of Professional Psychology (WSPP) in Milwaukee. They asked him to come in for interviews FEBRUARY 19, 2009. Two days later he was accepted for admission to the school! Brian said, “It was one of the most important nights of my life that changed the course of my entire life. I will be studying for my doctorate degree in clinical psychology with the intention of becoming a psychologist in Milwaukee.” Thank you, Brian, for your letter, sharing your joy with us. We are proud of you, and thank our loving God for the many talents He has given you. God bless you.

DECEMBER 21, 24, 25, 2008 – ST. JOHN’S SCHOOL – CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS SERVICES

Our great-grandson, Joshua Poston, son of Jenny (daughter of Sue and Tim) and Kevin Poston took part in “The Christmas Gift” (Jesus) service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Joshua is in Kindergarten. Kevin (Joshua’s father), who teaches 3rd grade at St. John’s, and is also music director, took part in “To Us A Child Is Born” service which we attended. Also, we attended “A Christmas Day Service” on December 25th in which Kevin directed the Mixed Choir and played the trumpet. Jenny, his wife, sang beautifully with the Mixed Choir. How thankful we are for all of our blessings!!!!!
