AUGUST 26, 2009 – TIMMY GIVES MEGAN PAGGI A RING

Timmy Mueller called us on August 26th to tell us that he had given Megan Paggi a ring. They plan to be married, God willing, on December 26, 2009. We wish both of you God’s richest blessings.

AUGUST 27, 2009 – PASTOR TIM MUELLER PREACHES AT ST. LUKE’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, WATERTOWN, WISCONSIN

The text for Tim’s sermon was: Matthew 9:15-38 – “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

The theme was: HAVING COMPASSION FOR SOULS

Quoted from the St. Luke’s bulletin: “Special thanks is extended to Pastor Tim Mueller, Director of the Recreation & Outreach Center in Watertown for his words of Gospel encouragement for us this morning. Pastor Mueller will also guide us in our Adult Bible Class this morning (9-9:20am in the Fellowship Hall) and speak to us on the blessings of the ROC. Everyone is welcome to come.”

SEPTEMBER 4, 5, 6, 7, 2009 – CELEBRATION OF DICK’S AND MY 80TH BIRTHDAYS

Wow! What a celebration that was! One blessed surprise after another! What a blessing our families are to us! We thank our loving God from the bottom of our hearts. I have written all about our wondrous celebration on pages 124-127 OF MOM’S MEMOIRS. We will never forget it. ALBUM NUMBER 82 has many great pictures of our grand birthday party (actually, my 80th birthday is on April 17, 2010).

LATER SUE, TIM, AND FAMILY PRESENTED US WITH A VERY SPECIAL ALBUM full of never-to-be-forgotten pictures which were taken by a photographer, Mike (Wild Flower Studio), the son of Judi Raiser (a volunteer at the ROC), and others. They also PRESENTED US WITH A FANTASTIC COLORED 11”X 14” PICTURE of all of our loved ones who were able to be with us. It is hanging on our living room wall for all to see. Dick and I are each holding a little baby. He is holding Adalynn Pasch and I am holding Tyler Poston – two more precious gifts from God.

SEPTEMBER 9, 12, 13, 2009 – TIM PREACHES AT ST. MARK’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH. WATERTOWN, WISCONSIN

We were again privileged to hear Tim preach about the ROC. We never tire of hearing our son spread the Gospel. He is an eloquent and sincere preacher, just like his father and grandfather.

SEPTEMBER 26, 2009 – A HUGE BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR SUE, TIMMY, CHRIS, & MEGAN

Again, there was a fabulous birthday party at Sue and Tim’s home. The birthdays celebrated were Sue’s (Tim’s wife) 52nd – September 28th, Timmy’s 28th – September 19th, Chris’s 25th – September 21st, and Megan’s (Paggi – Timmy’s fiancée) 24th – August 25th. Sue had made one of her great birthday cakes with candles denoting each year. It was cute the way all of them blew out the candles. We thank God for adding to our family in 2009 Megan, a wonderful girl, Tyler Poston, and Adalynn Pasch, two very sweet babies. Wow, we are richly blessed!!!! What proud grandparents Sue and Tim are! They now have five grandchildren!

SEPTEMBER 27, 2009 – BABY SHOWER FOR JAMIE WILSON

A wonderful baby shower was held for Jamie, Mark’s wife, at Debbie’s home in Colgate, Wisconsin. The food and games were terrific, and Jamie received many very useful and beautiful gifts. We gave her a ceramic Noah’s ark which pleased Jamie very much. What a blessing it is to get together with family and friends!

OCTOBER 3, 2009 – THE MOVING OF THE ROC

WE THANK OUR LOVING LORD FOR PROVIDING A TEMPORARY HOME FOR THE ROC IN THE BASEMENT OF ST. MARK’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, WATERTOWN, WISCONSIN. WE ALSO THANK HIM FOR PROVIDING MANY VOLUNTEERS FOR THEIR HARD WORK, FOOD, ETC. DURING THE MOVE (PLEASE GO BACK TO PAGES 129-131 OF MOM’S MEMOIRS FOR DETAILS OF THE MOVE).

On July 22-24 our annual ROC (Recreation & Outreach Center for youths) rummage and bake sale fundraiser was held at Trinity/St. Luke’s school. The ROC – a safe, free, fun, well supervised and organized facility – recently moved to its new location at 301 N. Third St. Pool, foosball, computer games, board games, and various other activities are available for all area teens starting in seventh grade.

Once again a big thank you to the 60-plus volunteers who put in 950 hours getting ready for and working the sale. As well as a thank you to Luther Prep for use of tables, Trinity church for use of the gym, Thrivent for their donation of $1,600, and Kingdom Workers for their contribution. Thanks also to Twice as Nice and Easter Seals for picking up leftover items. A special thank you to our bakers who alone raised around $400, the 146 community families who donated items for the sale, and our shoppers who helped us raise over $8,000 at the sale alone. This brought our grand total to over $10,000.

Special thanks to Pam Erdman, my co-chairwoman, who put in endless hours preparing for and working the sale as well as selling items on eBay for us. Also a special thank you to my sons, Tim and Matt, for all their hours put in preparing for and working the sale.

How wonderful to see such an outpouring of support. Thank you again.

Editor, Daily Times:

This letter is a heartfelt thank you to all involved in the ROC (Recreation and Outreach Center) Youth Center. When people talk about the Great Depression, they are also talking about how people feel during such a time. Some have considered these times, today, as depressing times. Since depression can often feed on itself, it is so good when there are events and things that happen that are positive and lift us up, and give us hope for the future. Such is the case when it comes to the Watertown ROC Youth Center. The Youth Center, which was begun and is administered by four Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Churches, St. John’s, St. Luke’s, St. Mark’s, and Trinity Lutheran, has been operating for almost seven years. During those years, over 1,200 different teens have attended with an average of 40 teens every night the ROC is open. The ROC has not only provided a safe and positive place for the teens, but also offered and given professional Biblical Counseling.
