Recently even more great and wonderful positive events have happened.in connection with the ROC Youth Center. On October 3, 2009, the ROC had to move from South Water Street, but the Lord, through God’s people, provided a temporary home for the ROC at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. A permanent home was found at 213 N. Third St., which was purchased on Dec. 29, 2009. After being approved by the City Council and the city Site Plan Review Committee, and with much community support, an extensive remodeling project on the building began around March 15. It took only three months to complete the project, and the newly remodeled ROC building opened soon after the move on June 12 with a Grand Opening/Open House on June 26.

With uplifted hearts we thank our Lord for His grace and blessing. We thank the many, many, people who donated so much of their time and talents for the remodeling project. We thank all those who provided food and goodies for the volunteers and workers. We thank the many businesses who donated so much of their labor and materials. We thank the many generous people who have given gifts so that we only have $30,000. left to pay for the building/remodeling. We also thank the many city officials for their help and cooperation as we went through the approval process. Thank you to all.

AUGUST 23, 2010 – SAMI JO HEITSCH IS CHOSEN TO BE LADY-IN-WAITING FOR CHEYENNE FRONTIER DAYS 2011 AND MISS FRONTIER FOR CHEYENNE FRONTIER DAYS 2012

How excited and happy we were when Steph called us the evening of August 23rd to tell us that Sami Jo had been chosen to be Lady-In-Waiting for Cheyenne Frontier Days 2011. It means that she will be Miss Frontier in 2012! Sami Jo, Steph, and Jeff were on their way to the Headquarters when she called us.

Sami Jo wrote a very interesting and informative Biography which is on the Cheyenne Frontier Days website, and on the bottom is a link to the Frontier Days website that now has Sami Jo on it as the Lady in Waiting with a beautiful picture of her. She sure does look like her Mom, Steph.

We have more wonderful pictures of her which we had made at Walmart. One is of Sami Jo, Steph, and Jeff. They are BEAMING from ear to ear. All in their family are very proud of her, and so are we. In her Biography she wrote that she “has learned the importance of family and faith.” We pray that she holds that in her heart all of her life. We thank God for all of the blessings He has bestowed on her and her family

THE FOLLOWING IS A COPY OF SAMI JO’S BIOGRAPHY

Hi everyone,

Below is Sami’s biography that she wrote for the Frontier Days website and on the bottom of this email is a link to the Frontier Days website that now has Sami on it as the Lady in Waiting with a picture of her. She has done so well with all of this and we are so proud and wanted to share.

Have a great one.
Steph

Sami Jo Heitsch is the daughter of Pastor Jeff and Stephanie Heitsch and sister to her two older brothers Travis and Mitchell, whom she has always looked up to. Sami Jo’s family has had many experiences and influences that have brought them to where they are today. Sami Jo came to Cheyenne as a five year old cowgirl and after experiencing her first Daddy of Em’ All, remembers looking up at her mom and telling her, "I am going to become Miss Frontier one day." Sami Jo’s journey started when her father, Jeff Heitsch, decided to carry on the family tradition of serving as a pastor.

Sami Jo knows it is because of her family that she has lived in various places, gained life-long friends, and learned the importance of family and faith. She was born in the town of Hettinger, North Dakota, lived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for five years, and finally landed in the beautiful state of Wyoming in 1999. As a pastor’s daughter Sami Jo was not only involved in the church activities, but was also given many opportunities to assist church families on their ranches. The ranchers gave Sami Jo the opportunity to ride a horse for the first time and allow a true love and appreciation for the western way of life to grow inside of her. Sami Jo believes she is the cowgirl she is today because of the support her entire family has given her from training horses to supporting the sport of rodeo.

Sami Jo has become an active member for the community of Cheyenne. She cares deeply for the sport of rodeo, especially Cheyenne’s western celebration, Cheyenne Frontier Days. Sami Jo’s involvement in the community has included the Cheyenne Frontier Days Dandies, 4-H, Mayors Youth Council, Church Youth Group, and the Wyoming Waves Swim Team. Sami Jo has also been involved in many high school activities including FFA, East High Girls Swim Team, Link Crew, Yearbook Committee, and Captains Council. Not only is Sami Jo involved in these organizations, but she has competed at local, state, and national levels earning several accomplishments. Sami Jo also served as the 2009-2010 secretary for the Frontier FFA Chapter, as well as the 2009-2010 Mayors Youth Council. Along with those accomplishments in 2009 Sami Jo received the Youth Excellence in Service Award provided through the Chamber of Commerce.

Sami Jo is currently pursuing an associates degree at Laramie County Community College studying Equine Training and Management. She plans to further her studies at the University of Wyoming to pursue her bachelors degree in Business and Communications.

Sami Jo has high hopes for the legend of Cheyenne Frontier Days. She says, “I am so proud to take part in the well oiled machine that has been driven by the volunteerism for 115 years. I have experienced this first hand by serving as a Cheyenne Frontier Days Dandy for four years. I have thoroughly enjoyed becoming a part of the Cheyenne Frontier Days family and being surrounded by all of the wonderful people that make our rodeo the most exhilarating experience of a lifetime. I plan to make the City of Cheyenne proud! Lets Rodeo!"

OCTOBER 3, 10, 13, 2009 – CELEBRATION OF THREE CABAN BIRTHDAYS IN ORLANDO

Christina Caban was born on October 3. 2003, and is 6 years old. Alya Caban was born on October 10, 2004, and is 5 years old. Their daddy, Ismael Caban (husband of Kelly and son-in-law of Wanda and Dick Mueller) was born on October 13, 1980, and is 29 years old. We have beautiful pictures of all of them celebrating their birthdays in Album Number 83 – also including Wanda, Dick, and Jonathan Caban, Christina and Alya’s little brother. They all live in Orlando, Florida. We miss all of them very much, including Chris, who is not on the pictures.

OCTOBER 30, 2009 – JULIA IS 23 YEARS OLD!

Out comes the family balloon tablecloth for another “Mueller family” birthday party at Sue and Tim’s home. We thank our loving Lord for bringing us all together to help celebrate. Joanne and Jerry Brandt were also there. It seems like yesterday when Julie was born. Now she is the mother of little Adalynn (Addie) Susan Pasch, who is also at the party. Also there is Tyler Matthew Poston, Addie’s cousin. Beautiful pictures of them are in Album Number 83.

MAKING WAY FOR THE NEW PICK ‘N SAVE AND LAKE MILLS BANK BUILDINGS

We also see pictures of a place on Highway 26 where the old Kohls building lay vacant for years. That building along with adjacent buildings (George Webb and Burger King restaurants, Payless shoe store, etc.) were demolished to make way for the new Pick ‘n Save and the Bank of Lake Mills. The old Pick ‘n Save was across Highway 26 (Church Street) next to the railroad tracks and McDonalds restaurant (where Tim worked for many years for his tuition at Northwestern Prep and College. The original McDonalds burned down and was replaced at the same spot just before the new Pick ‘n Save was built.
