Dear Pastor,

Thank you very much for your encouraging letter. I also informed my mother about you and she passes her greetings. She stays in Chipata in the Eastern province. She is now by herself with a grand child but very strong and energetic. She is all over in the province, teaching women, counselling, advising, etc. As you said there is no resting on when with the Lord. I recently visited her and she was really busy carrying on with the Lord`s work. She is now 72. Six of her children are with the Lord. We were a family of 10 remaining are 3 girls and myself alone out of 5 men. She has 27 grand children and 10 great grand children.

Yes, l know you remember the young Samuel probably running all over rolling a tyre or singing in the choir. I have six children 3 boys and 3 girls. All still in school. The first born Benford (Named after my father) is in the 3rd year at the University of Zambia studying science. The second Beatrice at college studying Human Resource and Management. The two in secondary school and the last two still in primary. My wife Joyce has been a wonderful partner in bringing up these children. I thank the Lord always for her.

We are staying at the Lutheran Seminary in fact since 1991. After graduating from the seminary l was assigned to serve at the congregation that meets in the seminary chapel. I served them up 2006 when l received a call to teach at the seminary. We have 10 students God willing graduating in May 2011

Its good to see that you still remember chewa very well. This shows how you still have good memories for Zambia. Please continue praying for our Country, our seminary and our families. I thank the Lord for directing me to your address. May God richly bless you and family.  I hope l can send you a picture of our family soon.

ZIKOMO KWAMBILI,

Mbusa Samuel

AND NOW BACK TO THE PAST

JANUARY 1, 2010 – CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS ON NEW YEAR’S DAY

ALSO CELEBRATING TOM PASCH’S 28TH BIRTHDAY

Wow! Sue and Tim’s family is getting bigger! Jenny, Kevin, Joshua, Jonah, Conner, and Tyler, Timmy, Megan, pregnant with the baby to be born next April, Chris, Julie, Tom, and Addie, and Holly and Matt were there – also Sue, Jim, Karen, Jimmy, Laura, and we. All of us exchanged gifts, and just enjoyed being with one another. Tom’s 28th birthday is on January 3rd, so all of us celebrated that too. There was a beautifully decorated homemade cake, and of course, gifts. Sue and Tim’s family is at the point where we were with our family when we were in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Our children were getting engaged, married, and having babies. We have fond memories of those days.

JANUARY – 2010 – ROC – Pebbles From The ROC – ST. MARK’S – “THE MESSENGER”

Check out this great Christmas Video done by Janine Patrie, a volunteer at THE ROC YOUTH CENTER, and a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc, WI. The music and singing in the background is by Michael Schroeder. The purpose of the video is to emphasize Christ IS Christmas. Listen closely to the words of the song as they speak of how Christmas is, for some, just stuff like lights, Santa, presents, etc., and has become very commercialized. The slides will show this side of Christmas as ROC Youth Center teens are pictured in front of homes with everything but Christ. The slideshow then changes to scenes showing Christ in Christmas, especially scenes of the nativity showing Mary, Joseph, Jesus, shepherds, etc. ALL the nativity scenes (last one is at Janine’s home) were found in and around Watertown, WI. ROC Youth Center teens are pictured making a nativity scene, and the Live Nativity shown was held at St. Luke’s by St. John’s, St. Luke’s, St. Mark’s, and Trinity Churches. ROC teens, whom we transported to the Live Nativity, loved it, and are also pictured. Keep in mind that over 75% of the ROC teens did not know or believe in Christ when they first came to us.

Please feel free to share the following video link with everyone and anyone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5m—-EAgNOw

Also, churches are welcome to show it to the congregation. The paragraph above may serve as a good introduction to the video. ENJOY! CHRIST IS CHRISTmas!

JANUARY – 2010 – A POEM, “LOVE ME NOW” – ST. MARK’S – “THE MESSENGER”

If you are ever going to love me, LOVE ME NOW, while I can know.
The sweet and tender feelings, Which from true affection flow,
LOVE ME NOW, While I am living. Do not wait until I’m gone,
And then have it chiseled in marble, Sweet words on ice-cold stone.
If you have tender thoughts of me, please tell me now.
If you wait until I’m sleeping,
There will be death between us, And I won’t hear you then.
So, if you love me, even a little bit,
Let me know it while I am living, So I can treasure it.

JANUARY 7, 2010 – A LETTER ABOUT SAMI JO FROM HER FATHER

Dear Dad and Mom,

Not sure what you are referring to with getting RJ in trouble …..maybe Steph sent you something ????

Sami Jo is up to EVERYTHING …..She goes to school from morning to afternoon (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) – during that time she is involved in a couple of special groups within the school, so even though she doesn’t have a class every hour every day – she is busy. She is in a mentoring/leadership group called LINK. She is on the Athletic Captains Council, and is an officer for the FFA Chapter at the school. She is also on the Mayor’s Youth Council for the city of Cheyenne and attends monthly meetings and represents the Youth Council once a quarter at the monthly City Council Meetings. She tries to swim practice at least three times a week right now; in a week she will start a college oourse out at the Community College on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. She rides her horses on Saturdays in the indoor arena at the Community College where she works as a TA (teacher’s assistant) for a few of the horse classes. Like I said – she is up to EVERYTHING.

To make it to the National FAA Convention and compete in the Prepared Speaking Competition she had to compete in local, regional, district, and finally the state competition here in Wyoming to win for the state. Then I believe all 50 states and Puerto Rico were represented by speakers who competed for the National Title. She also won a team competition in Wyoming with what is called Parliamentary Procedure (Roberts Rule of Orders). ….they won the State Title, but she was not allowed to compete in two events at National, so she picked her Prepared Speech. This year she will be competing with the Agricultural issue Team with the topic of Endangered Species as well as competing in Extemporaneous Speech (doesn’t know the topic until 30 minutes before she is to give the speech) – can put notes together and then give a 5 to 6 minute speech on that topic and be prepared to answer questions based on the topic and the content of her speech.

And finally YES – if she is “Lady in Waiting”, then she automatically becomes “Miss Frontier”.

Hope that answers those questions sufficiently…. Epiphany Blessings, Jeff
